After a wonderful tempura lunch, we went to Asakusa to visit the Shinto shrines and do a bit of shoppping. We will not visit schools until next week.

I think you'll find the schools to be much more familiar territory than the temples. The feeling of being in a foreign land is much stronger in a Shinto or Buddhist temple. When you get to the schools, you'll feel like you've stepped into America before the dubious invention of the "portable" classroom.
